Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!

What a week and what a half term it has been!  I have loved seeing our pupils develop over the spring term and become really confident with their learning - it is always the highlight of my day to see the children bring pieces of work that they are proud of.  I have seen fabulous examples of writing, handwriting, maths and art this week which has really made me smile!

Our Nursery and Reception classes had a brilliant time at Cannon Hall Farm on Tuesday - they had a tour of the farm, fed some of the animals and enjoyed the outdoor spaces.  They were all exhausted on the way back and fell asleep on the minibuses!

We have been so happy to have some sunny days as it meant we could open our reading shed at lunchtimes and have some of our PE sessions outside.  The children loved being outdoors enjoying the fresh air.

We are now on a two week holiday and return on Monday 13th April.  We will be doing Wake Up, Shake Up at 8:30am that day so we can wiggle our way into the summer term!  As always, our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.  Send us any photos of your children showing them enjoying their holidays or if they do something you want to shout about!

Nursery News!

We have had a brilliant last week of the Spring term; the children have worked so hard to do their best and get stuck into all of our learning and challenges.
It was a lovely way to celebrate our wonderful learning by going to the farm on Tuesday.
In maths this week, we have been looking for squares and rectangles. We have sorted shapes into those with 4 sides and those that didn’t have 4 sides.
In topic, we found out about how some children celebrate Easter. After we had been outside, we realised we’d had a special visitor! There were footprints in our classroom and a strange basket on the floor. Inside there were some chocolate eggs. We compared the children’s feet to the footprints but it wasn’t any of ours. The children had the great idea that it must have been the Easter bunny!

We have kept the reading folders that are in school and will send them out during the first week back.

Have a wonderful two weeks off and enjoy any Easter celebrations that you have. We would love to see some photos if you take any. We will see you back in school on Monday 13th April.

Attendance Matters!

Our whole school attendance was 93.6% which is much lower than our 96% target.  It would be wonderful to start the summer term being able to blast this target out of the water!

One class was awarded an extra playtime as they were above 96% this week!  Well done to Year 4 who topped our class attendance competition with 98% - see if you can crack 100% on the first week back!  They won a movie afternoon for their class on our Attendance Wheel.

Year 2 were our overall class attendance award winners for the half term and Miss Murray will be letting you know what your class reward will be!

Easter Bonnet and Decorated Egg Competition

Well, what can I say?  I was so impressed at the creativity you showed when decorating your eggs and bonnets.  The colours, textures, designs, cute animals and spring fun was just gorgeous to see.  Our guest judge Jo Stephens, one of our Academy Council Members, had the almost impossible task of choosing a winner from each class.  Thank you for taking part!  See below for the list of winners.

Have the most wonderful two-week holiday, I'm going to be sleeping, visiting my parents in Scarborough and spending time with my daughter who is back from university.  Mrs Shirra is going to be sleeping, decorating and catching up with friends, Miss Murray is going to be sleeping and spending time with family and Miss Tindall is going to be sleeping and going for a well-deserved break in Helsinki.  As you can tell, we are very much looking forward to a rest - we hope you manage to get some rest too.  I would like to thank all of our wonderful staff for the hard work they do each day.  We can't wait to see you all on Monday 13th April for the beginning of our summer term!
