Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!

We've had such a busy week at Parkland this week.  I have been so proud of the way our pupils who have been to the Eco Conference at Co-op Live and the Poetry Festival at 1 Angel Square represented our academy so well; they have really shown how we succeed together.  Mrs Shirra, Miss Murray and I also had the opportunity to visit 1 Angel Square this week for an Inclusion Conference which gave us lots of food for thought.

Next week, we have lots of exciting things coming up.  Our fun-filled event 'Wake Up, Shake Up' continues on Monday at 8:30am in the main playground - we hope you will all join us there.  If you have any song requests just let us know!

We also have the following things coming up next week:

Monday - Year 5 trip to the Stardome at one of our other academies.

Tuesday - Year 3 trip to Bolton Abbey.

Friday - 9am Celebration Assembly and RED NOSE DAY!!  Please bring £1 to raise money for some wonderful charities and 'show you care'.

We have created a story map for our story of “What the Ladybird Heard”, the children thought of what I could draw to represent different parts of the story. We have also been acting out parts of the story using our masks.

In maths ,we have been been looking at how 4 is made up of smaller groups. We gave the ladybird 4 spots and looked at how many were on each wing.

In project, we have been learning a new skill and creating a colour wash for a farm background. The children added lots of water to their paint before filling the paper.

Three classes were awarded an extra playtime as they were above 96% this week!  Well done to Year 6 who topped our class attendance competition with 98.3% - see if you can crack 100% next week!  They won an extra playtime for their class on our Attendance Wheel.
