Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!

The sun has finally made an appearance!  What a difference a bit of Vitamin D can make to everyone's wellbeing - I know it has made me smile when the mornings and evenings have been lighter.  I can almost feel the heat from the BBQ and the smell of freshly cut grass!  It has been such a busy week at Parkland - we have had the book fair visiting and thanks to you buying books, we have managed to raise £99 for our school.  We will be choosing exciting books for our school library.

Next week, we have lots of exciting things coming up.  Our fun-filled event 'Wake Up, Shake Up' continues on Monday at 8:30am in the main playground - we hope you will all join us there.  If you have any song requests just let us know!

We also have the following things coming up next week:

British Science Week - all week

Tuesday - Eco Conference at Co-op Live (some of our pupils will be representing our academy)

Thursday - NHS Day workshops

Friday - 9am Celebration Assembly and some of our Year 6 pupils will be representing our academy in the Co-op Academies Trust Poetry Festival at 1 Angel Square - we wish them lots of luck!

We do hope you will join us for each of our events as it is always lovely to see you in the academy - we love a catch up!

Nursery News!

This week we have squiggled, built, jumped, compared, printed, matched and been on a bear hunt!

Our squiggle mark-making sessions have included drawing spirals this week! It was a bit tricky, so we pretended we were mixing a cake.
We have been building and jumping outside, making the most of the sunshine. They have made a motorbike, a house and a chalk shop!
We have been comparing groups up to 4 by trying to make sure the fields have the same amount of cows. The children were really beginning to identify how they could make them the same.
In topic, we have learning about the names of baby farm animals. We were very impressed to find that some knew lamb and some knew calf.
In project, we have been printing farm animals using sponge and foam prints. We had to remember to press firmly and not to wiggle it!

Attendance Matters!

We have had a good week for attendance (not as good as last week but we will keep striving for excellence!)  Our whole school attendance was 95.2% which is almost at our target – let's see if we can have all classes above 96% so they can be awarded an extra playtime next week.

Three classes were awarded an extra playtime as they were above 96% this week!  Well done to Year 4 who topped our class attendance competition with 99.2% - see if you can crack 100% next week!  They won some craft kits for their class on our Attendance Wheel.
