Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!

It has been such a gorgeous first week back after the half term holidays - the weather is getting better and the mornings are becoming much lighter which has definitely put a smile on my face!  It was wonderful to see so many of our pupils bounding down the path to school each morning, ready for learning.  We have had lots of visitors around our academy this week and they all commented on how happy our children are.

Next week, we have lots of exciting things coming up.  Our fun-filled event 'Wake Up, Shake Up' continues on Monday at 8:30am in the main playground - we hope you will all join us there.

We also have the following things coming up next week:

Monday - Last day of the Book Fair and Racket/STEM Club starts again.

Thursday - World Book Day all day - come dressed in pyjamas or a costume then 5pm Book at Bedtime event.

Friday - 9am Celebration Assembly.

We do hope you will join us for each of our events as it is always lovely to see you in the academy - we love a catch up!

On Monday, we found out about how some children celebrate Chinese New Year. We looked at a traditional Lion and Dragon dance and found out red is a special colour for Chinese New Year. We also tasted some prawn crackers and biscuits as well.
We have started our new topic of “Fun on the Farm.” We read “What the Ladybird Heard” and have been thinking about who is in the story and where the story happens.
In project, we have been exploring making secondary colours through colour mixing. We worked together to add two colours and guess what colour it might make.
In topic, we were looking at how we have changed since we were babies and toddlers. The children loved guessing who was who from their baby photos! Some were a bit tricky as we have changed a lot!

Five classes were awarded an extra playtime as they were above 96%!  Well done to Year 2 who had an incredible 99.4% attendance this week - you are legends!

We launched a new class attendance competition in the hall for this half term.  The teachers were incredibly competitive last half term - let's see which class wins this time!
