Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!

Hasn't it been such a rainy and foggy week this week?  What has filled me with joy are the number of smiling faces coming to school each morning down the school path - they certainly didn't let the weather dampen their spirits!

I have to give an enormous 'shout out' to our Year 6 pupils who have been coming to school early every Tuesday morning, showing commitment to their own learning.  They start with a delicious breakfast to fuel their bodies, access tutoring and have given it a big thumbs up!  Miss Tindall and I are so proud of just how hard they have been working.

Next week, we have lots of exciting things coming up.  Our fun-filled event 'Wake Up, Shake Up' continues on Monday at 8:30am in the main playground - we hope you will all join us there (and that we get some nicer weather next time!).

We also have the following things coming up next week:

Monday - Y1 trip to the Ilkley Toy Museum

Tuesday - Y2 trip to a local Mosque and EYFS Stay and Play at 2pm

Wednesday - Y6 trip to a local Mosque

Thursday - Valentine's Dance and Dine with a picky tea 3:15-5:15pm

Friday - Cowboy Breakfast 8am (Yee Haa!)

We do hope you will join us for each of our events and that all of our children are in every day and on time.  We have a special attendance week coming up (see below for details)!

Attendance Matters!

This week, our whole school attendance was lower than last week's at 92.6% which is still a long way from our target of 96%.

The class winners were Year 6 who had 94.6% attendance this week.  They won a new book for their class library on the Attendance Wheel - well done to them!

Next week, we are hosting a 100% Attendance Week from Monday 9th February to Friday 13th February.

We want to see every single face in school, on time, and ready to learn every day. To celebrate your attendance, we’re holding a raffle at the end of the week.

?? What can you win??

We have a mountain of prizes up for grabs, including:

- Stationery

 - Arts & Crafts

Year 2 News!  Explorers

Year 2 had a brilliant time role playing in their groups during this week's history session.

They had lots of objects in their groups and were pretending to be famous explorer Christopher Columbus.  They looked closely at a map of the world and globes and thought about the various objects that they might need for a voyage.  They embodied one of our Co-op Ways of Being 'Succeed Together'.
