Parkland Post - Friday 20th September 2024

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!  I can't believe how lucky we have been with the weather this week, it has meant that we have had so many opportunities to be outside for playtimes, lunchtimes, PE sessions and our Eco Club could get into the Peace Garden to keep it looking beautiful.  Thank you to Isabel's dad in Year 4 who has been helping Mr Hadden with the Eco Council.

Attendance

This week our whole school attendance was 91.8% which was lower than last week's attendance.  Our winning class was Year 3 with 95% - they won a new book for their class story.  I know there are a lot of bugs going around but please remember to send your children in even if they have headaches, coughs or colds, tummy aches or tiredness as these illnesses will not be authorised.  More often than not, the children pick up once they get busy in school.  Each time a class has 100%, they get to colour in a letter on their Attendance letters on the classroom doors and when they have coloured them all in, they receive a prize for the whole class to enjoy!  Remember, you have to be in it to win it!

Family Fun Afternoon - 3rd October from 1:30pm

On Thursday 3rd October, you are invited to come into school for a Family Fun Afternoon!  We will have lots of activities in each classroom for you to do with your child, there will be a free buffet in the hall, a penalty shoot out, a pre-loved book stall where you can choose books to take home and keep and the best thing of all - we will have a bouncy obstacle course for any budding Ninja Warriors!

Big Family Breakfast and Macmillan Coffee Morning - Friday 27th September 8am

We would like to invite you all to our BIG Family Breakfast and Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday the 27th September at 8am.  If you would like to come along and enjoy bacon and sausage sandwiches, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, pastries as well as hot drinks then book a place on Arbor.  There will be a bucket for donations to Macmillan Cancer Research.

PTA - We Need You!

We have a magnificent PTA who have been responsible for putting on lots of events such as our schools discos and summer fairs.  We are hoping to put on many more fun events again this year and would like to ask if anyone else would like to join our PTA.  Keep your eyes peeled for our first meeting where we will agree on the events for the year ahead.  I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our PTA for their hard work last year - our children are so lucky to have you organising everything so they can have lots of exciting pupil experiences.

And finally...

We hope you have a brilliant weekend in the sunshine, I hope you are able to get out into the fresh air and have a walk in the local park or go and visit somewhere new.  I will be visiting a university with my daughter and walking Jet, Mr Watson will be visiting Saltaire. Mrs Shirra will be going out for a birthday meal and Ms Pascoe will be going to Fountain's Abbey.  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a great time doing it!  We will see you all bright and early on Monday morning where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
