Parkland Post - Friday 9th May 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!  It has been a very busy week with the construction of our new Early Years provision starting.  The children have loved checking in with the progress and are getting more and more excited as the days go along!  Year 6 had a brain busting day with a company called PET-Xi who did a wide range of maths revision activities before their SATS begin next week - they looked exhausted by the end of the day yesterday!

Good Luck Year 6

I wanted to wish our Year 6 children the best of luck for next week's SATs, they have worked incredibly hard all year and Miss Tindall, Mrs Shirra, Miss Zainab and I are proud of everything they have done.  This weekend, I would like our Year 6 children to enjoy the sunshine, get lots of fresh air, some early nights so they can be ready for the week ahead; you've got this!

Attendance Matters

This week, our whole school attendance was slightly higher than last week at 93.3% which is starting to go the right way - let's try and strive to reach our goal of above 96% next week.  The winning class this week was Year 1 with 95.2% attendance and they won an arts & crafts kit on the Attendance Wheel - well done!  There were no classes to reach 96% or above so no extra playtimes this week.

VE Day - 80th Anniversary

What a day we had yesterday marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day!  The children looked amazing dressed in red, white and blue, the bunting was up and lots of flags were waved!  The children learnt about the importance of peace and that we are better together.  We all came together towards the end of the day to form a 'V' for Victory in the playground which gave us a wonderful opportunity to all meet up as a whole school.

Grandparent Lunch

As part of our Bridging the Gap project, we would like to invite Grandparents, friends and neighbours of an older generation to share lunch with our pupils on the 21st May.  Please book the number of ADULT places that are required and make sure that your child has a lunch booked on this day in the meals section of Arbor - this is free for the adults but chargeable (unless you qualify for Free School Meals) for the children. Please book by Friday 9th May to allow the kitchen to order the food.  We can't wait to share lunch with you!

And finally...

We hope that you enjoy what looks to be a very sunny weekend - please make sure you apply sun cream and wear a hat if it's going to be very hot so you stay safe in the sun.  Keep watching our social media pages for updates on our Early Years outdoor provision as lots of exciting things are starting to arrive.  This weekend, I will be spending time with my family, Ms Pascoe is going to see Gregory Porter in concert, Mr Watson will be relaxing at home and Mrs Shirra will be celebrating a friend's birthday. Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a wonderful time doing it.  We will see you all bright and early on Monday morning where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
