Parkland Post - Friday 2nd May 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - summer has arrived! Thank you for sending your children in with hats, water bottles and having sun cream applied in the hot weather; it really does help them to stay safe in the sunshine. We have had another busy week at Parkland, I have been so impressed at just how hard our children are working. I particularly enjoyed spending time with our Year 4 pupils who have been busily learning and reciting their times tables - they had so much energy answering the quick fire questions! Next week, on the 8th May, we will be marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day and children can come dressed in red, white and blue - the bunting will be up!
Attendance Matters
Our whole school attendance was 91.5% this week which is much lower than last week and we were on course to crack our target of 96% - let's see if we can do that next week! We have some attendance prizes to give away next week so each day your child is in school, their names will go into a raffle and prizes will be given each day. Remember - you have to be in it to win it!
The class who won the overall attendance this week was Year 3 who had 94.6% and they won a classroom game on the Attendance Wheel. No extra playtimes could be given this week as there were no classes above 96% so we will try again for that reward next week. We can do it!
Early Years Outdoor Building Work
We have exciting building work which is going to be starting on Tuesday 6th May. Our new Early Years outdoor provision is being developed over the next two weeks which means the gates into what was the KS1 playground will be locked during this time. All children in Nursery and Reception classes will arrive and leave via the main office. Thank you in advance for your patience whilst this work is being carried out. We can't wait to show you the photographs once it has been completed! I would like to extend a big thank you to the Trust for enabling all of this to happen.
Reading Shed
There was a real buzz in the playground this week as our brand new, fancy reading shed has been officially opened! The children couldn't wait to get inside and choose books to read and loved sitting on the picnic rugs to enjoy some quality time with a book. If you ever lose me, try looking in the shed first!
And finally...
We hope you have a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend! I will be spending time with my family visiting friends in Norfolk, Mr Watson will be seeing his brother, sister-in-law and niece and nephew. Mrs Shirra will be taking part in a dance class and planning for the holidays. Ms Pascoe will be spending quality time with her boys. We are back on Tuesday 6th May. Our doors will reopen at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
