Parkland Post - Friday 13th June 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - we have had another busy time with lots going on in and out of the academy!  I have been so proud of the way our pupils have been switched onto learning and how they have interacted with our visitors to the academy this week.  We gave away some reading vending machine tokens today for those children who are working hard with their reading this half term so far.  I always love to see which books they choose and the enormous smiles they have when deciding!

Attendance Matters

Following my plea last week for you to help me with attendance, I am happy to say that our attendance figure is going the right way again!  Our whole school attendance was 91.6% this week which is thankfully higher than last week's figure but we still have a way to go.  The winning class who get to put 3 stickers on our whole school attendance chart are Year 3 with 95.8%.  They won an extra playtime on the Attendance Wheel - well done and keep it up!

Don't forget that as well as your child being able to access essential learning being in school every day and on time will guarantee that you will have a raffle ticket entered into our prize draw to win a £50 Just Eat voucher and like I always say: You have to be in it to win it!  Let's make next week even better!

Arts Week

Next week, we are all excited about Arts Week, a celebration of creativity where children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of art activities. Throughout the week, the children will explore various artistic mediums, fostering their imagination and self-expression. There will be arts such as Music, Dance, Applied Art and drama. I am excited to see some amazing outcomes throughout the week.

Poetry Slam

Mrs Shirra took three of our Year 6 pupils to the Bradford Primary Poetry Slam at Bowling Park.  They performed their poetry along with lots of other schools in Bradford and came second!  They won a gorgeous trophy and some poetry books!  We are so proud of your hard work and performance skills and would also like to thank Mrs Shirra for helping our pupils to prepare and perform and for our parent helpers who supported us - what a result!

PTA Summer Disco - 26th June

Who fancies a bit of a dance at the PTA Summer Disco?  You do?  Well, look no further!  Our discos will be taking place on Thursday 26th June at the following times:

Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2: 4:30-5:15pm

KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6): 5:30-6:15pm

Mr Wilkin will be DJ-ing and there will be lots of games, prizes and of course, dancing!  There will be a tuck shop selling sweets, crisps and small chocolate bars.  The PTA will provide free juice for the children.  There will be coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for parents to buy (50p each).  Dig out your party clothes and get ready for the summer tunes!

YACAD Keyboard Lessons

Our Year 3 children began keyboard lessons this week with Melissa from YACAD.  It was wonderful for them all to go over to YACAD's dedicated music studio and begin to learn all about the keyboards and play some chords.  The children loved being able to play the instruments and can't wait for next week's lessons!

Ms Pascoe is going to be with her boys celebrating Father's Day, Mr Watson will be doing some gardening and Mrs Shirra will be going to a 40th party.  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a lovely time doing it, and we will see you bright and early on Monday morning where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
