Parkland Post - Friday 23rd May 2025

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of Summer 1 and what a half term it has been!  We have had a brand new build and outdoor provision built for Early Years, two successful Parents' Evenings where we could share news of how well your children are doing, Year 6 and Year 2 have done us proud with their SATs, trips for Years 1 and 3 and pedestrian training for Year 3.  We have so much planned for the final half term including a Pantomime on Monday the 2nd June!  M&M Productions are coming to perform 'A Little Princess' which tells a tale of bullying, challenging times and friendship.  We will have the popcorn at the ready to launch what will be our best half term!

A sneaky peek at our new Early Years outdoor provision!

Attendance Matters

It has been a fierce competition this half term with battles between three of our classes!  The whole school attendance this week was higher than last week at 92.3%, we are heading the right way!  This week's class attendance winner was Year 1 with 96.7% which means they will also get an extra playtime.  They won new stationary on the attendance wheel and their success has led to them winning the whole school attendance drive!  They spent a very sporty afternoon with our sports coach Mr Rogers and had ice lollies for their class treat - keep up the amazing attendance!

Grandparent Lunch

We loved welcoming grandparents to our special lunch this week.  We enjoyed a delicious roast dinner and fabulous chocolate orange pudding with custard.  A huge thank you goes out to our kitchen team Sayeeda, Nat, Becky and Jo for making it so wonderful.  We hope to offer more lunches in the future so look out for new dates when they are advertised.

Poetry Slam

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils had a blast on Wednesday in a poetry slam!  They had the opportunity to listen to poetry and rap being performed by Donavan and Matt and then worked in groups to create and perform their compositions.

Year 4 DT

Year 4 completed their DT unit this week, which culminated in making their own omelettes.  The smell around the academy drew everyone in!  Well done on showcasing your skills, Year 4.

And finally...

We hope you have a wonderful half term holiday and that the rain doesn't spoil the activities you have planned.  The gardens and parks will be glad of the rain as we haven't had enough recently.  We only have one more half term left and then we will have done a whole year - I can't quite believe just how quickly it has flown.  This half term, I will be celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday, Mr Watson will be going to Spain, Ms Pascoe is going camping with her family and Mrs Shirra is going to Poland.  I would like to thank all of our teaching and support staff for their hard work and hope they enjoy a rest next week.  We will see you bright and early on Monday 2nd June where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.  Don't forget that there will be a panto on the first morning back (oh no there won't.... oh yes there will!).
