Welcome to this week's Parkland Post! It has been such a busy week with so much learning going on in each year group. I love walking into each classroom and hearing all about the work that your children have been completing - the enthusiasm for learning is a joy to see! This week, Mrs Shirra and I have interviewed and appointed our Wellbeing Ambassadors, Library Monitors and Co-op Young Leaders for the year. Keep your eyes peeled for their photographs appearing on our 'Leaders' display boards on our main corridor along with their reasons why they wanted to become one of our Pupil Leaders.

Next week, we will be sending home a calendar of events for the year ahead so you can see when we will be holding our fundraising days, discos, parent events, class assemblies etc.

Welcome to the first Parkland Post of the new academic year and welcome back to what is going to be an amazing year! As you will have seen, we have shared our brilliant Ofsted report which was published this week. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and determination every single member of our school community has put in and that Parkland has been recognised as a haven for our community. Next week, we are holding a Meet the Teacher event (see details below) so you can put a face to a name which will help us to continue to build good relationships with you, our families.

I have been so impressed with the way our children have settled back into academy life, they bound down the path each morning and their focus in lessons is wonderful to see. Keep an eye on ClassDojo for photographs and stories about what your children are getting up to!

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the year and what a year it has been! I am such a proud Headteacher, our children and families are at the heart of everything we do. It was lovely to see so many of you at this morning's Celebration Assembly, our academy is a stronger place when we have our families with us. Yesterday's Summer Fair was lots of fun with a wide variety of stalls on offer. Our classes had a competition to see who could 'Grow a Fiver' as part of our enterprise and careers related learning - see which classes managed the largest totals below!

Welcome to a very hot and sticky Parkland Post - I hope you have managed to stay in the shade and keep cool! Next week, the weather is meant to stay warm so your children can still come into school in their PE kit and trainers. We have one more week left until we break up for the summer and there are lots of events happening so please check our Key Events section of our website for further details. Next Friday, there will be class parties in the afternoon so children can bring a change of clothes if they wish to change out of their activewear.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post in what has been another incredibly busy week! We are hurtling towards the summer holidays and we have lots of events coming up over the next two weeks so please remember to look at our Key Events page on our website to stay up to date. I have been fortunate to be able to listen to our Year 6 cast of High School Musical which is going to be performed next week. The quality of singing, acting and dancing is just amazing and I have had the songs going round in my head all week long!

Welcome to a very warm and summery Parkland Post - grab yourself an ice pop or a cold drink and find yourself a shady spot! It has been a brilliant week in and around the academy this week, we have had lots of trips and visits and our children have been working incredibly hard. I have had the chance to see some wonderful pieces of work from children across all of our classes and the overall impression I got from each one of them was that they were very proud of their hard work.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - we have had another busy time with lots going on in and out of the academy! I have been so proud of the way our pupils have been switched onto learning and how they have interacted with our visitors to the academy this week. We gave away some reading vending machine tokens today for those children who are working hard with their reading this half term so far. I always love to see which books they choose and the enormous smiles they have when deciding!

Welcome to this week's very soggy Parkland Post! The rain hasn't dampened our spirits at Parkland and our Celebration Assembly was full of big smiles as each of the children won their awards. It was lovely to see so many parents and carers joining us too; we love being able to share your child's successes with you. Welcome to the final Parkland Post of Summer 1 and what a half term it has been! We have had a brand new build and outdoor provision built for Early Years, two successful Parents' Evenings where we could share news of how well your children are doing, Year 6 and Year 2 have done us proud with their SATs, trips for Years 1 and 3 and pedestrian training for Year 3. We have so much planned for the final half term including a Pantomime on Monday the 2nd June! M&M Productions are coming to perform 'A Little Princess' which tells a tale of bullying, challenging times and friendship. We will have the popcorn at the ready to launch what will be our best half term!

Welcome to this week's super sunny Parkland Post! I have to start by saying how proud I am of our Year 6 pupils this week. They have shown such resilience and have worked their socks off as they completed their SATS - they had a great time at our SATs Breakfast Club and had the chance to relax and chat with their friends and staff before tackling their papers. They have all shown a mature attitude and definitely embody all of our Ways of Being. They enjoyed a pizza treat yesterday afternoon to celebrate completing the tests! Next week, our Year 2 pupils will be taking their SATs and Miss Walker will be getting them focused so they can show off just how much they have learnt this year so far - good luck to all of the Year 2s!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post! It has been a very busy week with the construction of our new Early Years provision starting. The children have loved checking in with the progress and are getting more and more excited as the days go along! Year 6 had a brain busting day with a company called PET-Xi who did a wide range of maths revision activities before their SATS begin next week - they looked exhausted by the end of the day yesterday!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - summer has arrived! Thank you for sending your children in with hats, water bottles and having sun cream applied in the hot weather; it really does help them to stay safe in the sunshine. We have had another busy week at Parkland, I have been so impressed at just how hard our children are working. I particularly enjoyed spending time with our Year 4 pupils who have been busily learning and reciting their times tables - they had so much energy answering the quick fire questions! Next week, on the 8th May, we will be marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day and children can come dressed in red, white and blue - the bunting will be up!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - it has been wonderful to have you all back in the academy! The beautiful blossom tree is in bloom and is showering us all with pink confetti as you come into school and the sunshine has put a smile on our faces! Our children have made an incredibly positive start to the summer term and they have been telling visitors to Parkland this week all about their learning; I can feel that this term is going to be an exciting one!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post! We hope you have been enjoying the sunshine; it really helps to get you smiling, even if it has been a bit chilly in the mornings! I was lucky enough to be able to visit our Year 6 pupils on their residential at Buckden House yesterday - they have been having such an amazing time. I got to spend time with a group doing their problem solving activities which challenged them in lots of different ways and encouraged some fabulous teamwork. I wanted to thank all of our staff who accompanied the children for the three days: Miss Tindall; Ms Pascoe; Mrs Shirra (who even celebrated her birthday there); Mr Watson and a special mention to Mrs Denby who organised and cooked for everyone throughout. Without you all, the residential wouldn't be able to go ahead - we are so grateful that you were able to be there for our pupils; thank you.

Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post! It has been a week full of learning and really positive experiences for our children. We have had the University of Bradford in doing some STEM workshops for our Years 3 and 4 children. They got the opportunity to work with Thomas and create bath bombs which they all enjoyed taking part in. The children can also have their passports signed as part of the Children's University programme we are taking part in. A huge thank you to Thomas for the full day of workshops and for teaching new skills and inspiring young minds.

Welcome to this week's fun-filled Parkland Post and what a week it has been! We have had a brilliant day today raising money for Comic Relief - we all wore something red or non-uniform and did something funny for money! Our Parkland's Got Talent showcased just how incredibly talented our children are with a wide variety of singing, dancing, telling of jokes, ball skills and so much more! The audience really enjoyed watching and being part of the show and our Year 6 panel of judges were amazing (watch out Simon Cowell).

The children's faces were full of awe and wonder as they explored their new surroundings. Welcome to this week's Parkland Post! Everyone has made a fabulous return to school this week and we have loved hearing all about what you got up to during the holidays. We have seen the sun a lot more and it has been a delight to be out on the school gate welcoming families each day - it always makes me smile seeing our children race down the school path to get into class in the mornings. As the weather improves, we are beginning to think about spring and how we will be able to start developing our Remembrance Garden - keep your eyes peeled for information about a Community Day where we will be asking for help with our digging and planting.

Parkland Pupils Help To Launch New Book

Year 4 pupils recently took part in a special event to launch a new book! ‘Cones and Rural Broadband’ is the latest book to feature walking, talking traffic cones. Our children visited the University of Bradford to mark the occasion, alongside children from all over the city!

Welcome to our final Parkland Post of the spring half term. I have been reflecting on all of the fabulous things we have done and achieved since January and I'm not surprised that everyone is ready for a week off! We have had some wonderful family events such as the Year 6 sewing afternoon yesterday, our BIG Family Breakfast, the KS1 Maths Family workshops, Spelling Bee, GoIT event, Roman Day in Y4, the football tournament at Co-op Academy Priesthorpe and so many more pupil experiences! In this morning's Celebration Assembly, I was thrilled with the number of Silver and Gold certificates I gave out - I especially loved that one pupil said they had never received a silver award before! Let's keep going with our push on increased attendance.

A big warm welcome to this week's Parkland Post. It has been Children's Mental Health Week this week and we came together as an academy on Tuesday to take part in the Great Big Live Assembly. It was great to hear so many ways that our children can help to look after their mental wellbeing and the presenters shared some lovely things we could do if someone was feeling low. Time to Talk Day was held yesterday and there are some details below of what we got up to.

Welcome to a bumper edition of the Parkland Post and what a week it has been! I am feeling incredibly proud of our pupils this week (even more than I usually do) because we have had a really positive week! Highlights for me are: an increase in attendance, pupil participation in two different events and some brilliant work going on across our academy. I wanted to thank you all for helping to raise our attendance this week. It makes such a difference having everyone in school, in class and working hard each day. Our Early Bird attendance drop was a huge success on Monday morning - keep your eyes peeled for the next one of these to happen.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - it has been a flurry of activity! We welcomed some visitors to our academy who were impressed this week at the things that our children have been up to. We dropped into the Year 4 violin session and loved to see the whole class working together practising their pizzicato (plucking) skills to a song called 'Tribal Dance'. As someone who played violin at primary school, it reminded me of how much I enjoyed playing an instrument and learning new songs each week. We will be inviting parents into school later in the term for a violin performance - keep watching for a date.

Welcome to the final installment of the Parkland Post for 2024 - how did we get through the year so quickly? I have been reflecting on what has been a good year for us at Parkland - we now have so many pupil leaders on our School Council, Co-op Young Leader Team and our Wellbeing Ambassadors who have been appointed to help make Parkland the fabulous place it is. We have had so many families supporting us in our recent events and yesterday's Winter Fair was a huge success thanks to our PTA, pupils, staff and volunteers - we really do succeed together! I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting us at Parkland and being part of our journey and I know we will go from strength to strength in 2025!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post in what has been a really positive week! Thank you for joining us for our Parents' Evenings on Wednesday and Thursday to find out how well your children are doing at our academy. We were so glad that so many of you found it useful for Sheila from Early Help being there so she can help support families where they need it most. I would also like to thank YACAD for the snowman craft station - there were so many cute little snowmen being made!

We have had a number of visitors around our academy this week and everyone commented how settled our children are and were impressed with their behaviour for learning. It is the best part of my day being able to go into classes, see the great work going on and being able to give out special stickers, pencils and certificates for those that are working really hard.

Welcome to this week's very chilly P-P-P-Parkland Post; I hope you are all managing to stay toasty and warm. Thank you for your understanding when we have had to close the Springdale Crescent gate due to icy conditions. We have had another super week at Parkland with lots of learning going on! Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - we have made a fantastic start to the second part of our autumn term! Next week looks to be even busier with Anti-Bullying Week and Assessment Week so please make sure that your child is in school every day (except Tuesday) so they don't miss any essential learning. You are all invited next Friday to our Daily Mile Event straight after the Celebration Assembly next week. Children can wear funky sports gear so they complete the final Daily Mile together.

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the half term! It has been a whirlwind of a week with so many events in our academy. We began the week with Year 3's class assembly where they wowed us with their knowledge of Migration to Leeds and Bradford with a very funky song to end things. We had our Early Years Stay and Play, it was lovely to see so many families coming in so the children could show you what they have been doing. They also managed to raise £15 for MacMillan Cancer Support. We also welcomed families into our academy for our Harvest Festival and were treated to songs, poetry and lots of facts about food around the world. Thank you to everyone who brought a donation for local food banks - you are fabulous!

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - I can't believe we only have one more week until the half term holidays. We have had such a busy week and there is no sign of things slowing down! We have shared the Key Events with you which details what we will be doing for the rest of this year. In addition to these dates, we are pleased to announce that we will be holding a KS2 (Years 3 to 6) Carols by Candlelight on the 12th December at 2pm. We have had lots of visitors around our academy this week who have been impressed with how welcome our children have made them feel.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post and what a busy week it has been! We have had so many exciting events happening across the academy which gave our children lots of opportunities to develop new skills and work on existing skills. I strongly believe in our pupils developing the skills they need for life and for the world of work as it helps them to make positive contributions to our community and invests in their future. Next week, your child will be bringing home their Children's University passport - we will send out some information to go with it so you know how you can help them achieve their goals.

I can't believe how lucky we have been with the weather this week, it has meant that we have had so many opportunities to be outside for playtimes, lunchtimes, PE sessions and our Eco Club could get into the Peace Garden to keep it looking beautiful. Thank you to Isabel's dad in Year 4 who has been helping Mr Hadden with the Eco Council.

Dance Festival 2024

Our Dance Festival with Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts & Dance

At Co-op Academy Parkland, we hosted our very first Dance Festival for Primary School aged children on Friday 12^th July. We have worked alongside the Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts & Dance (YACAD) to create an opportunity for our community to come together through dance and performing arts. We worked with community and school groups across Bradford, including Our Lady & St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Ashland’s Primary School, Swain House Primary School, Titus Salt School, YACAD’s extracurricular groups as well as our own groups.

Welcome to the penultimate Parkland Post of the school year! If I thought last week was busy, then this week has been a rollercoaster! We have had a super week of class assemblies and the end of year Y6 performances of Peter Pan. I have been incredibly impressed by the way all of our pupils have learnt their lines, delivered them perfectly and succeeded together.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post which is dedicated to Ruby Morris-Rands who we said our final farewell to on Monday. Yesterday, our children and staff came together with close family and friends in a Memorial Assembly which celebrated Ruby's life through dance, poetry and with some of our Year 4 children sharing their memories of Ruby. It was a really special time for all and I was incredibly proud of the empathy shown by all of our children. In the next few weeks, we will be developing a Memorial Garden which will be a place of quiet reflection for children and staff to remember anyone who they have lost.
